Fashion and Television in 70's-80's (Culture)
1970's
In the late 70's, the pant suit, leisure suit and track suit was what average people were sporting. The hippie look started to fade away. However the casual look continued. Women's fashions included cowl neck shirts and sweater, pantsuits,sundresses, worn with tight t-shirts,strapless tops, lower-cut shirts,cardigans crop tops and more.

In the early 1980s, many clothing had a lot of browns, tans, and oranges. In clothing blocky shapes were included in everyday fabric , it was a popular thing to dress as a tennis player and a cool thing to do. Also many prefer softer fabrics as well. Turtle necks, and scarves made a big comeback during this time as well
In the mid 80s, many people worn bright and bold colors especially around 1985. Madonna was an influence to many female fashion sense. For example teased hair, pastel colors, rubber bracelets, hoop earrings, loud make-up, and importantly neon was important part of this decade as well. However, this style was more worn by teens and younger people at the time. Also MTV had a big influence on teens fashion as well. As many tune in watching celebrities with wild styles come along. Fashion trends can spread like a wildfire in seconds. On the other hand, in the late 80s Nike grown to be the most profitable companies in the world. Coke, Pepsi,Reebok, and Nike were all popular athletic brands during this decade which brought a lot of competition. Thanks to Michael Jordan, Nike made the most outcome.
~I actually like the style in the 80s it was fun and bright and its really cool how many people today still dress like these times. Also many stores would use looks like this that inspire them. Why did MTV influence young people more than older people. My sister would like vintage things from the 80s to be unique. |
